The most important aspect of your server security is the password you use for your DirectAdmin admin account. It is anticipated that you will not misplace, distribute, or overlook it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Find the Password for Admin Account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In case you forgot the admin password, you can always find it here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\/var\/log\/directadmin\/install.log<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The section where you will spot the password will look like this:
The following information has been set:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admin username: admin
Admin password: c0pr7hwvt8f-
Admin email: admin@yourdomain.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you use the command line, the command to display this info is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

cat \/var\/log\/directadmin\/install.log | grep Admin\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Note<\/strong>: The password you will find this way is actually the one you get after the DirectAdmin installation. It will only be valid if you have not changed it.
However, if you\u00a0forget the password after changing it from the one you got from installation, you will have to reset it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To Reset\/Change the Password<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Access your server as root and enter this line:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
passwd admin<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
It will allow you to set a new password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
[root@test ~]# passwd admin\nchanging password for user admin.\nNew password:\nRetype new password:\n\npasswd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
