How To Switch Mailserver On VPS OR Dedicated Server ?
Users’ ability to download and see their mail is managed by your mail server. You have two options for mail servers to utilize with cPanel/WHM: Courier and Dovecot. POP3, IMAP, and SSL are supported by both mail servers.
On a cPanel server, there are 2 types of mail servers available; Courier & Dovecot.
Courier
- Traditional cPanel IMAP and POP3 server.
- Extremely reliable.
Dovecot
- Low memory footprint.
- Highly configurable.
- Excellent security track record.
- Better IMAP performance.
- BlackBerry Fastmail support.
- Ideal for memory or CPU constrained systems.
- This is the default choice.
During the migration, change the mailbox settings file format to match the new mail server format. Each mailbox’s settings file will be transformed into the new mail server format when it is validated. This contains read message and mailbox subscription information, among other things. Your clients’ mailbox settings will be lost if this box is unchecked, but the transfer will go more quickly.
Enter the server’s credentials and select the “access option” under WHM.Mailserver Selection under Service Configuration. Click “Save” after choosing your preferred mail server. Ensure that the Convert Mailbox Format option is selected.
Note: Some mail clients may need to redownload all of the account’s saved mail messages after switching mail servers. This is typically observed in accounts that have POP3 setup.
