How to Configure Backups from cPanel
Backups enable you to download (to your computer) a compressed version of one or more of the aforementioned sections of your site, or the entirety of your site (including your home directory, databases, email forwarders configuration, and email filters configuration). It is not an automated backup system. The administrator can set them up via WHM. Every week, the entire server is backed up by Hostvento Internet Services.
You can download it to your home computer and do the backups yourself. Open the Backups option by logging into your cPanel account.
Your MySQL databases, email forwarders, filters, and all of the files in your home directory are all included in a full backup. You can transfer your account to a different cPanel server or create a backup of your account to protect your data.
Then select Download A Complete Account Backup. An archive containing every file and configuration on your website will be produced by a complete backup. This can only be used to store a local copy of your files or to transfer your account to a different server. Complete backups cannot be restored via the cPanel interface.
Backups Available for Download will show existing backups available under your root directory.
Under Generate a Full Backup, select Backup Destination from the dropdown. Enter the email address on which you wish to receive the notification once backup is completed.
Selecting Home directory will backup account under your root directory. You can upload the data directly using FTP & SCP over other servers. Make sure you have the Server IP, Username, Password & Port ready.
Partial Backups
1. Download a Home Directory Backup – You can just backup the website content and download it on your local machine.
2. Download a MySQL Database Backup – Select the database for which you wish to perform the backup. It will generate the backup so that you can download it.
3. Download Email Forwarders – You can download the forwarders for your main, addon, sub OR parked domain depending on your needs.
4. Download Email Filters – With this option you can download the backup of email filters if you have configured any.
Any website, whether personal, commercial, or mission-critical, needs backups. With any hosting package, we advise choosing backup plans.
